Getting Started Guide

Interested in engaging in human subject research (including research using information and specimens from human subjects)? Below you will find a step-by-step instruction guide to aid you in your application process.

1. Determine whether your project meets the federal definitions of research and involvement of human subjects. More guidance to make that determination can be found on our Does My Project Require IRB Review page.

2. Determine which IRB will review your research. More guidance to make that determination can be found on our IRB Committees page.

3. Complete the required IRB training (this includes all study personnel).

4. Start a research xForm on IRBManager. First time using IRBManager? Check out our IRBManager info page.

5. Download and complete/upload any Biomedical or SBE forms for your application. 

6. Still need help? Attend one of our training sessions or contact an HRPP staff member.
