Abstract:

With the intense focus on alternative/renewable energy we are focusing this project on a bio-diesel process involving used cooking oil.

Our idea is to engineer an automated cooking oil "cracking" machine that would process used cooking oil. We would like to expand the project to include the use of a diesel engine and generator. We then could produce fuel to run the engine that would generate the electricity to heat the cooking oil to be processed. The generator would produce more electricity than is needed in the heating process; the extra could operate other electrical needs. Successful completion of this project would also generate fuel for a bio-diesel vehicle being built by another project team in the school.
