The Parent and Family Association has created an array of events and programs all weekend long.
FRIDAY, Nov. 15
Check-InTime: 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. Make sure to check-in for Moms Weekend. This is where you will pick up your tickets, your shirts (if purchased in advance), the schedule of events for the weekend, and be able to ask any questions that you might have. |
Bob Ross Paint Along (hosted by the Campus Activities & Programming Board)Time: 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. The Campus Activities & Programming Board (CAP) is hosting a Bob Ross Paint Along event. While this event is not specifically a Mom's Weekend event, they have openned it up t o anyone who wishes to attend and participate. Attendees will be painting while they follow along with a Bob Ross paint tutorial. |
Glow PartyTime: 6 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Join us for an evening under the neon lights as we kickoff Mom's Weekend! We will have an indoor roller skating rink (roller skates provided, but feel free to bring your own as well), various glow activity and games. Make sure to stop by our table to grab a glow stick or two for the fun! |
"Silent Sky"Time: 7:30 p.m. The University of Toledo Department of Theatre and Film will present "Silent Sky," based on the life of 19th century astronomer Henrietta Leavitt. Brian Sage, a visiting artist in the Department of THeatre and Film, directs the production. Written by Lauren Gunderson, "Silent Sky" explores a woman's place in society during a time of immense scientific discovery, but women'ss ideas were dismissed until men claimed credit for them. The drama takes place at Harvard Observatory in the early 1900s, when Henrietta Leavitt and her female colleagues are hired to chart stars for a renowned male astronomer as "human computers." The women are discouraged from participating in hands-n research or investigating their own astronomical theories. "Silent Sky" is presented by arrangement with Broadway Licensing, LLC servicing the Dramatists Play Service collection. Tickets are $10 to $20 and can be purchased online through the UToledo Tix website or at the box office before the performance. Current student tickets are free with a Rocket ID. SATURDAY, Nov. 16
Toledo Farmers' MarketTime: 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. Downtown Toledo (525 Market St. Toledo, OH 43604) The Farmers' Market is a unique parrt of the history of the City of Toledo. The Farmers' Market of Toledo began in 1832 along the streetcar line on Monroe, Superior, and Washington Streets. Today, the Farmers' Market is a highlight of the Downtown Toledo community. Go down and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee while you explore the different vendors, listen to live music. Make sure to stop by the Libbey Glass retail shop, right next to the Farmers' Market. The Blade Holiday ParadeTime: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Downtown Toledo (Summit Street) The annual Blade Holiday Parade is back! Giant Balloons, local marching bands, horses, floats, and more! Join us as we celebrate the kickoff to the holiday season. Be sure to stay until Santa makes his debut. Relay for Life 2024 (hosted by the Colleges Against Cancer and Relay for Life)Time: 12 p.m. - 7 p.m. Relay for Life is back after a 4 year hiatus! Relay for Life is a 10-hour fundraising event supporting the American Cancer Society. Participants gather to honor cancer survivors, remember those who have lost their battle, and fight back against the disease. We kickoff the event with an openning ceremony, followed by a survivor lap recognizing cancer survivors and caretakers. If your student is participating in Relay for Life or you are just interested in checking out the event please feel free to join us throughout the day! Admission Fee: $8 that goes to the American Cancer Society. |
Mom's Appreciation LunchTime: 12:30 p.m. - 2 p.m. Join us in celebrating the incredible mothers who continuously inspire with their dedication and love. We're hosting a special lunch in your honor, complete with a heartfelt welcome message from our universitys' top leadership. It's our way of saying thank you for all that you do. Moms and students, come share this memorable day with us! The Mom's Appreciation Brunch is hosted in partnership with the Catharine S. Eberly Center. |
Bloom with UsTime: 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Student Union, Ingman Room Unleash your inner gardener with the Office of Student Engagement in a delightful pot-painting and planting event! We're offering individual terra cotta pots for you and your student to paint and personalize. All done? Choose from a variety of flower seedling packets to take home to grow in your pot. |

UToledo Women's Basketball Vs Northern KentuckyTime: 2 p.m. Cheer on the MAC Champion lady Rockets as they take to the court. The UToledo Women's Basketball team made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament! The women will be playing against Northern Kentucky. |
