Official International TOEFL (UT's school code is 1845/if taken). If you have taken the International TOEFL you must have your official score report forwarded to The University of Toledo.
Your admission application also serves as an application for undergraduate international student awards.
(NOTE: All documents must be in English. Certified English translations must accompany documents not available in English)
Application Priority Dates
Applicants for undergraduate study are advised to apply at least 3 months prior to the anticipated term of enrollment. This allows for time to make all the arrangements necessary prior to departure (i.e. obtain the necessary visa and make travel arrangements). Our priority dates are:
- Fall Semester - May 1
- Spring Semester - October 1
- Summer Sessions - March 1
Definition of Students
New International Students: Students who have never attended a college/university after secondary/high school graduation. Students who have taken post-secondary (college) courses while enrolled in high school are considered first-time freshmen.
Transfer International Students: Students with post-secondary credit taken after they graduated from secondary high school.
New international student: You must submit official transcripts (from each year) from all secondary/high schools attended. If you have attended a post-secondary college or university while in secondary/high school, you must also provide these official transcripts.
Transfer international student: You must submit official transcripts from all post-secondary colleges/universities you have attended. Please submit course syllabi and/or course descriptions of all coursework attempted for the evaluation of transfer credit.
Original transcripts or certified true copies of transcripts are considered official. If the official transcripts are not in English, you must submit both the original and an official English translation. U.S. Embassies and U.S. Consulates are sometimes able to certify translations.
If you have attended any post-secondary colleges or universities, please submit course syllabi and/or course descriptions for the evaluation of transfer credit.
Your Name on Documents
Materials for applicants are filed alphabetically under the family name (surname) as indicated by the applicant on the application form. It is important that you use the same name and spelling on all forms, documents and correspondence. Your name must appear the same on your documents as on your passport. Any changes or variations in names on academic records need to be carefully explained by a cover letter and accompanied by a copy of the identification page of your passport.
All international students are required to submit a TOEFL score. The University of Toledo offers conditional undergraduate admission pending English language proficiency to students who have not met The University of Toledo's TOEFL requirement. A minimum international TOEFL score of 500 on the paper-based test or a 61 on the Internet-based test is required for full time undergraduate registration. Students who have been conditionally admitted will take The University of Toledo's institutional TOEFL (paper-based test) upon arrival. Students not earning a 500 on the institutional TOEFL will be automatically admitted to the American Language Institute for intensive English language instruction. Students are responsible for having their official score reports submitted to UT by ETS (our school code is 1845). Students who have completed at least 30 credit hours of undergraduate coursework in a variety of disciplines at a US institution are not required to submit a TOEFL score. Note: The IELTS exam is NOT accepted for undergraduate international students.
Applicants are required to provide supporting documentation to verify adequate funding to pursue studies at UT.Your sponsor must verify that the minimum amount necessary for tuition, fees and living expenses will be available to you. A sponsor confirmation letter will be required if there is no relation between the name on the bank letter and the applicant.
