UT Community Band

Due to popular sentiment and a need within the community, The University of Toledo Band Program will be sponsoring the TOLEDO WIND ORCHESTRA beginning Spring of 2012.  The ensemble will meet Sunday evenings, 4-6 pm, in the Center for Performing Arts on the UT Campus.

Conducted by UT Director of Bands, Dr. Jason Stumbo, the ensemble will perform both new and classic works in the repertoire.  It will be a serious ensemble with a focus on the artistic performance of significant repertoire for winds.  Music for the first performance will include Gustav Holst’s Suite in Eb and Percy Grainger’s Lincolnshire Posy.  Other performances will include classics by Hindemith, Schoenburg, Bennett, and many more.  Rehearsals will begin Sunday, April 15 with the first concert on Sunday, May 6.  Other concerts are tentatively scheduled for May 27 and June 17. The first rehearsal is open to everyone.  Should there be too many participants, auditions will be scheduled the following week.  There will be no cost to members for participation.  We only ask that you commit to all rehearsals and performances.
