The University of Toledo will host its 5th Annual High School Honor Band this March
22-24, 2013. For four consecutive years, this unique event has attracted a large
number of area band students who spend a weekend not only rehearsing and performing
a variety of music, but learning about and applying practical concepts of musicianship.
There is NO COST and NO AUDITION for participation. The goal of the event is to have an enjoyable weekend by making music, not drilling technique. Special emphasis is placed on the concepts of phrasing, balance, blend, tone and tuning. Every high school musician can/will benefit from participating in this event.
Members of the UT Wind Ensemble sit-in with the students for both rehearsals and performance. In addition, students have the opportunity to audition for UT Music Scholarships while on campus.
Registration for this event is through the high school directors. To ensure a positive experience for every student, we limit the number of students
from each school to ten. This is on a first-come, first-served basis. Directors are
asked to submit the names, instrument, ability level, and contact information of
interested students directly via email, phone or fax.
