General Hospital System
The General Hospital System is a rapidly growing hospital system servicing Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. The anchor hospital, General Hospital, recently purchased 4 additional hospitals in the area. The hospital has always been a destination for medical services regionally, nationally and internationally. General Hospital is ranked number 1 in the region, in the top 10 full service hospitals nationally, and in the top 25 full service hospitals internationally. It is one of the highest ranked not for profit hospitals in the county.
General Hospital has strategic plans to improve its international ranking and move into other states. The main building is located in the center of campus and has the following departments:
- General Surgery: services 18 and over. All pediatric surgeries and neonatal take place in the Pediatrics Building

General Hospital’s philosophy is to provide complete service to patients and their families within their campus. No patient is turned away for the inability to pay for services. The hospital has a large active list of donors made up of prominent individuals, businesses, and former patients. The patients and their families are treated physically, emotionally, and spiritually. General Hospital realizes that hospital stays and medical treatments can be a stressful time for patients and their families, so the campus is organized so that these needs are met. Service is convenient, efficient, and of the highest quality.
Transportation Services
Transportation Services provides shuttle service within the General Hospital campus and to medical offices, nursing homes and other services that may be needed by patients and their families in the area. Services include both regular shuttle service and ambulatory transport. All transportation operates at no charge to patients and their families, the elderly in the community, and families facing financial difficulties.
