Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program

The UToledo Inside-Out Prison Exchange Project offers classes at the Toledo Correctional Institution that include students enrolled at UToledo and incarcerated students. The classes are experiences in student-driven, community-based learning.

“I think this program brings out the best in all the students and the instructors. Despite very different backgrounds, political views and religious beliefs, the Inside-Out class became a weekly gathering where students shared their views on assigned materials while expressing themselves without bias or prejudice, which is a very rare experience in our society.”
- Steve, Inside Out student, 2015

Mission

We engage in education that approaches problems across profound social boundaries to create opportunities for people inside and outside of prison to collaborate in addressing crime, justice, and other areas of social concern.

Glass House Magazine

“Glass House” is the magazine of People for Change. It is a fully collaborative project; all participants in PFC solicit and edit pieces from inside and outside contributors. We discuss together the theme for each issue. All pieces are approved in general by the group. Artwork is done by inside members of PFC, tagged as appropriate. All rights to the work remain with the authors and artists.
