Per Diem Rates

Mouse

Rates - Per Cage/Per Day

SPF: 2 cage changes per 2 week cycle. Cages requiring additional changes will result in additional tech time charges.

When developing your animal project budget for July 1, 2028 and beyond, plan on 5%-7% annual increase for animal related expenses.

  • Quarantine testing
  • Specialty supplies and other services/supplies, as needed
  • Technical support services
    (injections, surgical support, post-op monitoring, breeding colony management, etc.)
  • Veterinary intervention
    (as a part of a research project or surgical/advanced medical intervention for research induced conditions)
  • Special diets/water
  • Clean fostering
  • Import/Export fees 
  • (to/from collaborating institutions)
  • Autoclaving lab supplies
  • Vendor animal charges, box/crate fees, fuel surcharges and shipping
  • Transportation of animals between campuses

Miscellaneous Animal Husbandry and Service Charges

Technical & Professional Services

Technical services are charged in 15 minute increments.

Veterinary Professional Services

  • Requested as a part of research project (protocol-approved surgery, necropsy or tissue harvesting to collect experimental data, etc)
    and/or
  • Veterinarian must provide surgical or advanced medical intervention for research -induced conditions.

($19.56 per 15 minutes)

Administrative Services Fee

This fee may be assessed when:

  • Animal requisitions are submitted after the Wednesday, Noon deadline and must be placed that week.
  • Animal requisitions are amended after the Wednesday, Noon deadline or after orders are placed with the vendor.
  • Requesting administrative/billing services beyond standard operating procedures.
  • Indexes submitted for animal orders are under funded or closed at the time of allocation.
  • Changing indexes or using an underfunded index after invoices are sent to the PI.
  • Using multiple indexes to cover DLAR charges.

This fee is charged for individuals who do not contact DLAR 48 hours in advance to cancel a training session registration.

Domestic Administration Fee $104.00 up to 2 hours then $52.00 per hour*
International Administration Fee $182.00 up to 3.5 hours then $52.00 per hour*

*Plus all applicable fees.
Fees may include courier costs, shipping supplies (crates, dividers, supplements), tech time, quarantine testing and additional administrative charges.

Delivery Service
