Measure 2: Satisfaction of Employers and Stakeholder Involvement
Satisfaction of Employers
The University of Toledo’s Educator Preparation Program (EPP) actively seeks input from PK–12 partners and school leaders who employ our graduates. The Employer Survey is an essential tool for gathering feedback on the preparedness, effectiveness, and professional dispositions of our completers in the field. This data supports our ongoing efforts to improve program quality and ensure alignment with employer expectations.
Stakeholder Involvement
Meaningful collaboration with stakeholders—including school district partners, mentor teachers, university faculty, and community leaders—is a cornerstone of the EPP’s commitment to continuous improvement. Stakeholder feedback is used to inform curriculum development, field placement processes, program redesign, and strategic planning.
Current Status
During the 2023–2024 academic year, transitions in college leadership and unfilled key positions—including the Accreditation and Assessment Manager and Field Office Coordinator—temporarily disrupted established feedback and collaboration routines. These roles were successfully filled in Fall 2024, and the EPP has since resumed efforts to strengthen employer engagement and stakeholder collaboration.
Survey Development and Engagement Timeline
In Summer 2025, the EPP will finalize a revised Employer Survey that better reflects the needs of our partners and evolving accreditation standards. Distribution and data collection will begin in Fall 2025, with initial results reported in Spring 2026.
At the same time, the EPP is developing an enhanced structure for stakeholder engagement, including formal feedback loops, advisory input, and opportunities for collaboration across programs. This work will be implemented alongside the revised survey process, ensuring an integrated and transparent approach to continuous improvement.
Clinical Partnerships and Practices
PreK-12 School Partnerships – The JHCOE has established over 40 partnerships with PreK-12 school districts in the local area. Partner schools are located within a 30-mile radius from The University of Toledo's main campus in Fulton, Lucas, Ottawa, and Wood Counties in Ohio, and Lenawee and Monroe Counties in Michigan. These important relationships are vital to the field experiences where JHCOE candidates engage with PreK-12 students, teachers, and administrators, and learn to become effective teachers in the classroom. The Field Office continues to build partnerships with area schools to offer candidates the best field experiences possible.
Field Placement Selection - The JHCOE partners with PreK-12 school administrators to provide field placements in which candidates demonstrate knowledge and pedagogical skills in classroom settings with experienced teachers. The Field Experience Coordinator follows a strategic selection process to ensure the best match for each candidate.
