How to Lower your College Costs

Very few of our students pay the full price of a UToledo education.

94%
of new students receive scholarships or state and federal aid

There are all kinds of ways to decrease your costs and get financial aid. We outline many of them in your next steps. One of the easiest is to get good grades.

We award merit scholarships to students with outstanding academic records. All you have to do is apply for admission and submit all required documentation. If you qualify, you automatically receive a merit scholarship.

Many out-of-state first-time freshmen and adult students qualify for additional assistance. They are able to bring down their tuition costs to about the same amount as in-state students depending on their GPAs.

Do you live out of state?

Most out-of-state students pay an out-of-state tuition surcharge of about $9,360 a year. Depending on your GPA, you may be eligible for additional aid to help offset that surcharge — either in-state tuition or a scholarship. Both can be combined with the other merit scholarships listed above.

GPA 3.5 and above

In-state tuition (with a $100 per semester fee)

GPA 3.0-3.49

Rocket Nation Scholarship

$8,000

The $8,000 Rocket Nation Scholarship helps offset the out-of-state surcharge for students who do not qualify for in-state tuition. Residents of Monroe County, Mich., are considered in-state students.

Our Tuition Guarantee helps you budget

The tuition you pay your first year as an undergrad will be the same tuition you pay in Year 4 with our Tuition Guarantee. Your on-campus housing and meal plan rates won’t change from Year 1 to Year 4, either. Guaranteed.

The Tuition Guarantee may not apply to you if you previously attended UToledo and are transferring back. It all depends on when you were last a student here.
