Mobile Application Security Policies

In order to improve the security of University data accessed on mobile devices, Mobile Application Managment  policies will be applied to all UToledo employee accounts after October 7th 2019.  

 These policies ensure organizational data remains encrypted and confined inside managed applications on Android and iOS devices.   Effected applications include Microsoft Office 365 products.   Additional applications may be added as adoption of this technology increases.

 Security features: 

  • Enforce pin to access O365 application data.  Fingerprint and facial recognition are allowed after pin is configured.  Pin can be reset utilizing UTAD credentials if forgotten. 

  • Enforce encryption of UToledo data. 

  • Ability to wipe UToledo data without removing personal data from the device. 

  • Block the backup of university data to personal iCloud and Android backup services.  University data is automatically backed up to Office 365.

Note for Android users 

The protection functionality requires the installation of the Microsoft Company Portal app.  Android users will be prompted to download the Intune Company Portal from the Google Play Store.   Sign in is not required.
