Psi Chi
Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purposes of “encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology.” With over 1,050 chapters, Psi Chi is one of the largest honor societies in the United States and is an affiliate of both the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Association for Psychological Science (APS).
The UToledo Chapter
The University of Toledo Psi Chi Chapter provides psychology majors and minors with a community of like-minded individuals and an opportunity to grow as a student and future professional in the field of psychology. Our goal is to prepare our members for success post-graduation. To do so, we provide information about topics such as career options in psychology, the graduate school application process, and how you can stand out as a stellar applicant!
Our meetings range from social events that help you connect with fellow psychology students over informational presentation on important topics to workshops in which you will get to work closely with our executive board members to perfect your application materials or learn more about psychological research.

Membership
To participate in our meetings, you do not need to be an official member. However, official membership comes with several advantages that a worth considering!
Who can apply?
Official membership is open to graduate and undergraduate students who are making the study of psychology one of their major interests, and who meet the minimum qualifications. Membership criteria can be found on the national Psi Chi web site..
If you do not meet all the requirements, don't worry. You can still actively participate in our group!
How to apply?
To apply for membership, please fill out the application on the official Psi Chi website. Once you submit your application, our faculty advisor will review it and notify you whether you qualify for membership.
Applications are reviewed once per semester on November 1 (Fall) and April 1 (Spring). Please be sure to complete your application before the appropriate deadlines.
The total cost of membership is $80, which includes the $65 Psi Chi membership fee and a $15 chapter fee.
- Once you receive the confirmation that your application has been approved, you can finalize the membership by paying the $65 membership fee through the Psi Chi Website.
- To support our UT chapter and help cover the costs of research activities, meetings,
and events, we also welcome a $15 chapter donation from new member.
- You may make the donation by writing a check payable to “Psi Chi” or via Venmo to our faculty advisor. Detailed payment information will be provided after your application is approved.
Why apply?
Psi Chi membership is an international recognition of your academic excellence in the field of psychology. Furthermore, it comes with numerous benefits, such as:
- Access to more than $400,000 in annual awards, grants, and scholarships.
- Access to the Psi Chi journal that includes research articles as well as tips on getting into graduate school or information on career opportunities in psychology.
- Opportunity to attend the UT Chapter trip to the annual meeting of the Midwestern Psychological Association (MPA) Conference in Chicago.

Meeting Schedule - Fall 2026
We will meet every Monday at 6 p.m. in University Hall Room 1840, beginning September 14th. There is NO meeting on Oct 19th due to fall break. The last meeting of the semester is Dec. 7. Our meetings are open to everyone interested in learning more about Psi Chi and getting involved-official membership is not required to attend.
