Herb Scholarship
The Herb Scholarship is one of the most prestigious scholarships at the University of Toledo. Awarded to an elite group of high-achieving, first-year students enrolled in any of the five Bachelor of Education (BE) degrees offered by the Department of Teacher Education in the Judith Herb College of Arts, Social Sciences and Education, the Herb Scholarship covers the cost of fulltime, in-state tuition plus room and board for four years.
Through this program, the Herb family and the University of Toledo recognize, encourage, and support future teachers as they become the educators whose classrooms nurture the leaders of tomorrow.
Recipients of the Herb Scholarship also become members of the Herb Scholars Program, a cohort of Education majors who participate in activities that deepen their leadership skills and offer opportunities for undergraduate research in areas of education. All Herb Scholarship recipients are required to participate in the Rocket Kids Program, where UToledo students provide educational development and recreational programing to our U.S. Military youth in Europe.
Details
The scholarship is renewable for up to four years, subject to scholarship policies and requirements, and dependent on the student’s continued progress in a preservice education major. The scholarship is applied to full-time, in-state undergraduate tuition and general fees up to 18 credit hours per semester, with room and board for up to eight semesters of undergraduate enrollment.
