Theatre Production Auditions

Show Us What You've Got!

Auditions are held in the Department of Theatre and Film to determine a cast for a particular show. An audition is NOT required to be accepted into a Theatre or Film degree program at the University of Toledo.

Auditions to our plays are open to everyone – including non-students.  Our program seeks to create an inclusive and welcoming space and follows a conscientious approach to casting that respects all participants. Our goal is to authentically and imaginatively bring all stories to the stage and screen.

About the Show

The Lightning Thief

Synopsis: As the half-blood son of a Greek god, Percy Jackson has newly-discovered powers he can't control, a destiny he doesn't want, and a mythology textbook's worth of monsters on his trail. When Zeus's master lightning bolt is stolen and Percy becomes the prime suspect, he has to find and return the bolt to prove his innocence and prevent a war between the gods. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the thief. He must travel to the Underworld and back; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and come to terms with the father who abandoned him.

Audition Forms

To register to audition, forms are available in print or online. Printed copies of the audition form are available on the Production Call Board (near dressing rooms) in the UToledo Center for Performing Arts. If you use the printed form, it must be brought with you to your audition date/time. Printed audition forms will also be available at the table the evening of auditions. But we urge you to complete the form in advance of your audition time. Online forms are collected and supplied to the audition facilitators. You don't need to print out your completed online form, but you can if you like.

Your Schedule During Rehearsals/Performances

We need to be sure you can commit to all rehearsal and performance obligations. Provide a copy of your schedule for the spring semester. The form below will help you capture all of your recurring commitments (such as classes, work, etc.)

On the same document, provide the dates of any special conflicts you may know about in advance - such as weddings, court dates, etc.

Note: having a conflict doesn't mean you won't get cast in the show!  We just need to know those conflicts in advance.

For these dates - Jan. 12 - April 19, 2026 - we need your schedule/conflicts:

  • 6-10 p.m. Monday-Friday
  • Weekends

Provide Your Schedule

Bring your schedule with you to the audition or email it to Christopher Montpetit.  If you have questions, reach out to Christopher by email or phone, 419.530.4776, or call the Department of Theatre and Film Office at 419.530.2202.

And oh, yeah, BREAK A LEG!

Please Note:
