Theatre Production Auditions
Show Us What You've Got!
Auditions are held in the Department of Theatre and Film to determine a cast for a particular show. An audition is NOT required to be accepted into a Theatre or Film degree program at the University of Toledo.
Auditions to our plays are open to everyone – including non-students. Our program seeks to create an inclusive and welcoming space and follows a conscientious approach to casting that respects all participants. Our goal is to authentically and imaginatively bring all stories to the stage and screen.
Next Auditions
Sept. 3-4, from 6-9 p.m.
UToledo Center for Performing Arts, Center Theatre
Callbacks - Sept. 5 (if needed)
About the Show
Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!)
Performance Dates: Nov. 13-16, Nov. 20-23*
(*There may also be a weekday matinee performance.)
Synopsis: Instead of performing Charles Dickens' beloved holiday classic for the umpteenth time, three actors decide to perform every Christmas story ever told -- plus Christmas traditions from around the world, seasonal icons from ancient times to topical pop-culture, and every carol ever sung. A madcap romp through the holiday season!
Preparing for Your Audition
What to Do
Please prepare a memorized monologue from one of Shakespeare’s plays, 60 – 90 seconds in length and then a short 20 – 30 second snippet of a song. You can sing a acapella, even if it is something like Happy Birthday or a favorite hymn or a Christmas Carol, or self-accompany with a karaoke track from your phone of your favorite Taylor Swift bop or contemporary song.
Complete the audition form. Tell us a bit about yourself – past performance experiences (not a requirement), your schedule and contact info.
Then, please sign up for a 5-minute audition slot in the Department of Theatre and Film Office (posted on the outside of the office window).
Audition Forms
Audition forms are available printed or online. Printed copies of the audition form are available on the Production Call Board (near dressing rooms) in the UToledo Center for Performing Arts. If you use the printed form, it must be brought with you to your audition date/time. Printed audition forms will also be available at the table the evening of auditions. But we urge you to complete the form in advance of your audition time. Online forms are collected and supplied to the audition facilitators. You don't need to print out the online form, but you can if you like.
For questions, please contact Christopher Montpetit, 419.530.4776 or call the Department of Theatre and Film Office at 419.530.2202.
Please Note:
UToledo students must maintain a 2.0 GPA or above to be cast in a department production.
Productions are open to non-students as well.
