  4. Marketing of unique attributes of faculty and the COMLS.
  5. The development of an Academy logo for exclusive use by members.
  6. The ability for members to immerse themselves in scholarship and surround themselves with thought leaders in the Academy.
  7. Creation of an assessment tool for faculty to evaluate faculty teaching styles and skills.
  8. Development of an annual educational symposium.

Our long-term goals are:

  2. Reinforce the national reputation for COMLS in terms of leading innovation in education.
  3. Creation of an online resource library for educators.

Self-nomination and peer nomination of candidates will be acceptable for consideration for Academy membership. A criterion referenced process will be observed, and will be based on the following academic accomplishments: excellence in teaching and scholarship as noted in part by student/resident evaluations of faculty teaching; the receipt of teaching awards; the number of individuals who have been mentored by the faculty member; evidence of innovative curriculum design; and the faculty member’s H-index and/or 5-year power score that will in part comprise the educator’s portfolio. The Academy executive committee will select the new members of the Academy twice annually.
