Divisions: Endocrinology
The Division of Endocrinology provides comprehensive, family-centered care for infants, children, and adolescents with a broad range of endocrine and metabolic disorders. Serving northwest Ohio and the surrounding region, the division is dedicated to improving patient health and quality of life through expert clinical care, education, scholarship, and community engagement.
Clinically, the division specializes in the diagnosis and management of conditions including type 1 and type 2 diabetes, growth disorders, thyroid disease, disorders of puberty, adrenal and pituitary conditions, and metabolic bone diseases. Care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team that includes the ProMedica Physicians Pediatric Endocrinology group, diabetes educators, dietitians, nurses, and social workers who collaborate to develop individualized, patient-centered treatment plans.
Diabetes care and education represent a central focus of the division. Comprehensive diabetes programs emphasize insulin management, continuous glucose monitoring, nutrition counseling, and patient and family education. The care team prioritizes empowering patients and caregivers with the skills and knowledge necessary for effective long-term disease management.
The division is actively engaged in medical education and training, providing structured learning opportunities for medical students and residents. Through clinical exposures and didactics, trainees develop expertise in the management of complex endocrine disorders and the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
Scholarly activity and quality improvement initiatives further support the division’s mission by advancing the understanding of pediatric endocrine conditions and promoting evidence-based, optimized treatment strategies.
