Elective Description/Requirements: A two-week elective spent on a one-to-one basis with a dermatologist in Lima. Students will see outpatients in Ambulatory Private Practice. Additional responsibilities may include taking a history and performing a physical, as well as assisting in minor surgeries. Reading about dermatologic disorders seen in the office is expected.
Length of Clerkship: 2 weeks

- Recognize common skin disorders and treat them appropriately. EPOs: PC-2, MK-4
- Define the basic principles of the pathophysiology and etiology of disease using the skin as a vivid visual model. EPOs: MK-4, PC-2
- Appreciate the necessity of taking a complete history for success in both diagnosis and therapy of skin disease. EPOs: PC-3, PC-8
- Describe the situation when referral to a dermatologist is necessary. EPOs: PC-8
