Elective Description/Requirements: Acting Internship in Neurology is a 4-week clinical experience during which students will obtain additional experience in the field of clinical neurology.  This acting internship will require students to obtain advanced neurological clinical skills and provide a bridge to their residency training program objectives. Acting Interns (AI) will spend their rotation on the inpatient setting where they will be assigned patients and will assume primary responsibilities for their care. AI will participate in hospital rounds on one weekend day during their elective and will be assigned one “short call” per week along with a Neurology resident, at which time they will be available by pager until 10 pm.  They will write admission orders, notes and discharge orders under supervision of the senior resident.  AI will also participate in Resident Lectures and Journal Club that is held monthly in the Department of Neurology. Grade will be assigned on achievement of clinical objectives.  Each acting intern must perform a literature search regarding one interesting case per week, and present article(s) on rounds (5-10 min) to prepare the AI for their role as teachers of junior medical students.
