The Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative (CTSC) of Northern Ohio offers valuable resources and funding to both faculty and students across partner institutions, including the University of Toledo.

Faculty: Become a CTSC Member

We encourage all faculty to become members of the CTSC (membership is free!). Opportunities:

  • Funding & Pilot Programs – student-specific, CTSC-specific, research vouchers and acceleration awards
  • Research Collaborations – multi-center clinical trials
  • Education & Training – workforce development, mentorship, and leadership training.
  • Community Partnerships – community-driven research to enhance health equity.
  • Health Informatics & Data Science – biostatistics, informatics, and EHR-driven research opportunities.

These resources are designed to enhance translational research efforts and improve health outcomes across our region.

Students: Apply for Research Funding by May 15

Medical and graduate students are also eligible to apply for CTSC funding to support their research projects. Students must work with a faculty mentor who holds an appointment at a CTSC partner institution.

The CTSC has funding opportunities and support available for your research projects:

  • Research vouchers for up to $7,500
  • Regulatory and Compliance Support
  • Research Education & Training
  • Clinical Research Recruitment Support
  • Grant Proposal Development … and more!

Eligibility:

  • Become a CTSC member (no cost!)
  • Must have a research idea or current research project approved
  • Must have a faculty mentor in good standing with an appointment at a CTSC partner institution: CWRU, University Hospitals, Cleveland Clinic, VA Northern Ohio Healthcare System, MetroHealth, University of Toledo, Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED)
  • Have a list of services and funding needed.

Proposals must be reviewed by Diane McCarthy before submission to the CTSC.

The deadline for proposal submission is Wednesday, May 15.


The University of Toledo is proudly a partner institution of the Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative of Northern Ohio (CTSC) that consists of Case, CCF, Metro Health, University Hospital, and NEOMED.

Case Western Reserve University is the recipient of the Clinical and Translational Science Award.  This award is from the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) – part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). There are over 60 CTSAs working across the country and of these more than 60, there are three in Ohio: at Case Western Reserve University, The Ohio State University, and the University of Cincinnati.
