Analytical Chemistry Research LabUndergraduate Summer Fellowships in Analytical Chemistry Announcement!

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry and the Dr. Nina McClelland Laboratory for Water Chemistry and Environmental Analysis are now accepting proposals for Undergraduate Summer Fellowships in Analytical Chemistry for Summer 2024. The 8-week research fellowship consists of a $4,000 stipend and includes $250 to assist in the purchase of research supplies.

Interested chemistry and biochemistry majors are encouraged to apply who are:
(1) working in research labs on projects related to water chemistry or environmental analysis, or
(2) interested in joining a lab to work on a project related to water chemistry or environmental analysis

Students interested in joining a lab should discuss potential projects with potential faculty members and work with them to develop their application materials.

Students should submit a one page summary of their proposed summer project, a recommendation from their faculty research advisor and a copy of their transcripts by email to:

Any questions can be directed to Dr. Jon Kirchhoff (jon.kirchhoff@utoledo.edu), Coordinator of the Dr. Nina McClelland Laboratory for Water Chemistry and Environmental Analysis.

All application materials must be received by March 29, 2024. Awards will be announced at the 2024 Honors Tea in April.

Safe water is one of the most essential resources for quality of life, but there is growing concern about its continued availability. Both the economic and public health impacts related to water are very significant, and the resolution of issues around safe water and the environment is a crucial component of any sustainable roadmap for the collective future. Water quality worldwide was a life-long passion for Dr. Nina McClelland, and it remains a critical issue for greater Toledo and the global community.
