Project Timeline

UToledo is currently working through the below timeline to develop an initial budget model methodology for implementation. After an implementation methodology has been confirmed, UToledo will spend several months evaluating and testing the new model. Full implementation will occur after at least one parallel year of assessing the new model. Additional project milestones will be outlined below as the project progresses.

Financial Model Development will span from the start of November to about the third week of February. Academic Portfolio Assessment will span from the middle of November to the middle of March. Stakeholder Engagement will span from the start of January to about the third week of April.


Implementation

The implementation of a new budget model for The University of Toledo is a major undertaking and will need support and input from the entire campus community. In addition, two groups will help facilitate this engagement.

Project Steering Committee

President Postel has sponsored a Steering Committee to lead this effort comprised of individuals representing various colleges and departments across the UToledo Campus. The Steering Committee is comprised of the following members:

  • Margaret (Miggie) Hopkins, Professor of Management, John B. and Lillian E. Neff College of Business & Innovation
  • Gary Pollack, Dean, College of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences
  • Bryan Pyles, Senior Associate Dean Admin & Finance, College of Medicine & Life Sciences
  • JD Smith, Professor of Astronomy, Department of Physics & Astronomy

Project Consultant

To assist UToledo with this effort, Huron Consulting Group, Inc. was awarded the opportunity to assist in project management and implementation of the new budget model redesign. Huron is a global consulting firm headquartered in Chicago, Illinois with 24 offices around the world. Huron has helped over 50 colleges and universities rethink their approaches to resource allocation.
