University Marketing and Communications

Updating Undergraduate Program Pages

OVERVIEW AND UPDATING PROCEDURES

The University of Toledo program pages are managed by the Office of Marketing and Communications in partnership with Office of the Provost and Division of Enrollment Management.

The program pages serve as a single source for all programs available at The University of Toledo. Colleges should not reuse content from the program pages or build competing recruitment webpages within college websites. This undermines the search engine optimization, single source of truth, enrollment strategic objectives management and content maintenance for the marketing, recruitment and enrollment of prospective students.

The new program pages include:

  • Slate inquiry form to collect student interest data.
  • Content connected to a single source of truth for key data including academic course catalog, tuition and admission requirements.
  • Sorting experience allows visitors to view programs based on their personal interests and needs.
  • Return visitors will return with the same selections as their last visit.
  • Flexibility to build content unique to a program such as accreditation requirements, labs, research opportunities and experiential learning.
  • All majors, programs, certificates and minors are shown.

An effort over the next academic year will focus on removing competing program content within the University website to reinforce a unified program marketing strategy.

Below is an outline of all standing fields of the undergraduate program pages to assist program directors in providing the best content to showcase a degree.

Updates to program content can be submitted via Undergraduate Program Content Support Request that will be routed to the appropriate marketing strategist to work directly with the college communicator and program director on content review and proofing. The web team will make all reviewed and approved updates to the program pages.

If new page, see Creating a New Undergraduate Program Page Guidelines

CONTENT OUTLINE FOR UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM PAGE

Program Name, Degree Type, Time to Completion, Available as Minor – Managed by Provost’s Office

Marketing automatically makes changes as approved via CIM system.

Programs cannot be added or updated until completely approved though all CIM steps, including state approval.

Programs cannot be removed until approved for removal by Provost’s Office; program will be removed from program page list in advance of state approval when planned to not be available for next admission recruitment year.

Changes/Updates to Tuition – Managed by the Office of the Treasurer

All undergraduate program tuition is linked to pages built in collaboration with treasurer and admission offices.

Program Image

New program images can be submitted by a program director and/or college key communicator. Image will be reviewed by marketing and, if approved, replace the old one.

Slate Inquiry Form

The Slate inquiry form collects the same information across all undergraduate programs and cannot be customized for a specific undergraduate program. The communications process after an inquiry is submitted is managed by enrollment.

Yellow Highlight Box

This box will highlight high-level enrollment messaging managed in collaboration with marketing and enrollment.

Overview Page

The overview page (displayed by default when program page is loaded) has a brief paragraph about the program followed by a list of the top reasons to study the program at The University of Toledo. These emphasize 3-5 specific reasons, not vague statements, that differentiate UToledo from other universities offering this program.

Experiential Education Page

By default, the experiential education page shows general UToledo content provided, but each section (internships, research, etc.) can be updated with specific content to a program or all programs within a college.

Tuition and Scholarships Page

All undergraduate program tuition is linked to pages built in collaboration with treasurer and admission offices.

Honors Page

This page is managed in collaboration with Honors College and not specific to a college/program.

Plan of Study Page

All undergraduate program pages link to the most current course catalog page for that program, which is managed by the Provost’s Office.

Admission Requirements Page

All undergraduate program pages link to a single admission requirements page.

If an undergraduate  or graduate program requirement is incorrect, please complete admission requirement request form.

Find Admission Counselor Page

All undergraduate program pages link to a single admission counselor page.

Accreditation/Professional Licensure Page

All undergraduate program pages that include licensure must link to a professional licensure page. A unique page can be created if there are required accreditation needs for a program.

College Page

All undergraduate programs link to the homepage of the college that the program resides in.

Any subject page can also include a student(s) highlight(s). To include on a page need:
