Dear Rockets,

As we head into the final stretch of the fall semester and the upcoming holiday season, I wish to take a moment to say how thankful I am to have joined The University of Toledo. You have welcomed me as your 19^th president, and I am grateful for the trust, faith, and support that I have received from Rockets near and far.

Since joining UToledo in July, I have learned much about our amazing University, health system, and city.  I’ve been blessed to engage with many students, to see their accomplishments, to celebrate their victories, and to observe in wonder their developing potential.  I have met many dedicated employees and community members who are passionate about ensuring the success of our students and the health of our patients. 

As The University FOR Toledo, we are fulfilling our purpose as a research university dedicated to supporting the professional learning and future success of our students, we are keeping our promise to remain in service to our place in the greater Toledo region, and we are celebrating our pride in providing world-class contributions to human knowledge and health.

As we look toward the future, I am invigorated by our efforts to distinguish UToledo as a leader in providing all students with professional learning experiences, in advancing research, innovation, and economic growth, and in improving the health of our community.
