environmental impacts of pv materials research at UT

While photovoltaic devices in the use phase do not generate greenhouse gas emissions and are, therefore, thought to be more environmentally friendly that fossil fuel based power sources, greenhouse gases and other polutants are generated throughout the production lifetime of these devices. At PVIC, we investigate these emissions from cradle-to-gate and even in the use phase to determine which of the existing and emerging materials have the smallest footprint.
