Training

All UToledo personnel who are engaged in sponsored research activities are required to complete CITI training courses in Conflict of Interest (COI) and Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR).

All investigators must disclose external financial interests (EFI) and provide updates annually in accordance with UToledo Financial Conflict of Interest policy.

Researchers are strongly encouraged to take Research Security Training and Research Security Advanced Refresher. Department of Energy requires Research Security training for PI’s, co-I’s and key personnel prior to proposal submission, effective May 1, 2025. Research security training is & will be required for acceptance of an increasing number of federally sponsored awards and subcontracts. All researchers are strongly advised to complete the CITI Research Security training to avoid delays in award acceptance or proposal submissions. This training must be completed annually.

Biosafety

Safety in research is of paramount importance at The University of Toledo. If you are doing research that involves working with radioactive or bio-hazardous materials, you will need to work with the following departments to ensure compliance with UToledo safety policies and federal regulations for handling these materials.
