Appeal Procedures
Students who have been academically suspended or dismissed and wish to return to the University of Toledo must submit a formal appeal for reinstatement. This process is designed to give students the opportunity to share their story, reflect on past challenges, and outline a clear path forward for academic success.
Deadlines
Fall Semester Appeal Deadline: July 15th
Spring Semester Appeal Deadline: January 9th
What You Need to Submit
1. Appeal Letter
Your letter should include:
- A detailed explanation of the circumstances that negatively impacted your academic performance.
- How those challenges have been addressed or resolved.
- Specific steps you plan to take to ensure future academic success if reinstated.
2. Supporting Documentation
These documents help provide context and verification of your circumstances. Examples include:
- Medical documentation.
- Letters of support or references (e.g., from instructors, advisors, counselors).
- Obituaries or related documentation for loss of a loved one.
- Other relevant documents that support your appeal.
3. Submission Email
All appeal materials must be submitted together in one email to:

What Happens Next
- Appeals are reviewed by the Academic Standing Committee in your academic college.
- You will be notified of the committee's decision via your UToledo email.
- If approved, you will receive information about your next steps, including any conditions tied to your reinstatement.
