Students who have served their first academic suspension and have been away from the University for only 1 semester only and wish to return to the University of Toledo must complete the reinstatement process outlined below. Reinstatement is not automatic and requires review and confirmation by the student’s academic college.

Step 1: What You Need to Submit

Reinstatement Letter – Via Word Document

Students must submit a reinstatement letter that provides a thoughtful and detailed reflection. Your letter should address all of the following:

• An explanation of the circumstances or challenges that negatively impacted your academic performance and led to your suspension
• Reflection on what you have learned during your time on suspension
• Steps you have taken to address or resolve the challenges that contributed to your suspension
• A clear plan outlining the strategies, habits, and resources you will use to ensure academic success upon reinstatement

Step 2: Submission

Once your reinstatement letter is complete, submit it via email to: 
academicsuccess@utoledo.edu 

Please include your full name and Rocket Number in your email.

Step 3: What Happens Next

Your reinstatement request will be reviewed by leadership within your academic college

You will be notified of the decision through your UToledo email account

Once your reinstatement is confirmed, the Office of Academic Success and Engagement will contact you with next steps and guidance for your return, including enrollment and available support resources.
