Mulford Library

The University of Toledo’s Mulford Health Science Library primarily serves UToledo medical, nursing and pharmacy students on the Health Science Campus.

Completed in 1975, it was the second building constructed on what was then the campus of the Medical College of Ohio. It is named for Raymon H. Mulford, a former president of Owens-Illinois. It was featured in an article in Architectural Record, which noted its unique engineering.  Like the Block Health Science Building, it was built of concrete, but in a method that was described by the magazine as “glamourous.”

The Library is a founding member of OhioLINK, a statewide consortium of public and private universities and colleges that provide access to more than 50 million monographic titles and more than 150 research databases. The Mulford Library also includes the Academic Enrichment Center, which provides academic support for students on the Health Science Campus.

The library houses the College of Medicine and Life Sciences admissions department, the college’s student affairs department and the Dean’s office. The Mulford Annex, a small building tucked beneath the larger library, includes a student lounge. The space is nicknamed the “Treehouse” and provides a great view of the ravine near the building.
