UToledo COBI HR students Takes Home 1st Place at Ohio HR Games

OhioHR Games

The University of Toledo College of Business and Innovation’s Human Resource Management program was well-represented on February 22, 2020, as three senior students—Carli Silberhorn, Callie Snyder, and Marissa Diver—teamed up against nine other student teams to win Ohio’s Society for Human Resource Management’s HR Games at Ashland University.

A fun way to motivate and prepare students for professional HR certification, the competition consists of a series of Jeopardy-style matches between teams of three undergraduate students from universities around Ohio. The questions for the matches are divided into categories like those used in the certification exam, including Management Strategy, Selection & Recruitment, Training & Development, Total Rewards, Employee/Labor Relations, and Risk Management.

“The level of HR knowledge our students have is always impressive,” said Dr. Dale Dwyer, UToledo Management Professor, and coach of this years’ team. “Our faculty in the department does a great job in keeping the students current with an ever-changing discipline like HR. UToledo’s HR students clearly were well-prepared in all facets of human resource management.”

The HR Games is an event that offers the opportunity to bring professional SHRM chapter volunteers, students and student chapter advisors together in a meaningful way. The students receive an opportunity to network with other students and showcase their knowledge to HR practitioners.
