UCV Overview Demo (Recommended for all users)
Description: This Teams webinar introduces you the main features of the Blackboard Ultra Course View (UCV) and demonstrates how to transfer your Original Course content to your new Ultra-based courses.
Format/Location: Virtual (via Teams)
Session Length: 1.5 hours total: 1 hour 15 min demo, 15 minute Q&A

Department Training (By Request)
Description: UToledo Online offers departmental group training for Ultra upon request. To help us better serve you, please provide detailed information by completing the request form linked below.
Please Note: Customized training requires at least 2-weeks advance notice and a minimum of 8 participants. For in-person sessions, the department is responsible for securing a location (computer lab required). The maximum time of a training session is 2 hours.

Advancing Learner Interaction with Ultra AI
Description: Integrating Generative AI (GenAI) into education promises a transformative shift in how learners engage with content, peers, instructors, self, and real-world contexts. This one and a half hour online virtual workshop via Teams explores how Ultra AI Design Assistant and AI Conversations can enhance five critical educational interactions: learner-content, learner-faculty, learner-learner, learner-self, and learner-client.
Objectives:
- Discuss five types of learner interaction.
- Identify the roles of GenAI tools in promoting learner interaction.
- Design learning activities with Ultra AI tools to promote learner interaction

Online Teaching Certificate Course | 3 week online course (Oct. 20 - Nov. 9)
Description: This 3-week fully online course prepares faculty and teaching assistants at The University of Toledo to effectively facilitate teaching and learning in an online environment. Participants will gain insights about online teaching and learning through discussion, sharing, peer mentoring, collaboration, and self-reflection. The course also enables participants to practice using various online communication and assessment tools as they complete learning activities from the student perspective.
Objectives:
- Describe the online learning environment and the different roles of an online instructor.
- Prepare the online course and students for the first day of class.
- Describe best practices in the facilitation of online discussion and synchronous instruction.
- Describe strategies to display online presence.
- Create useful and effective feedback for students.
- Describe strategies for managing the online workload.

Session Length: 3-week online course

Please note: OTC is an actively facilitated course that requires active participation and submission of assignments. Participants should anticipate committing 1-2 hours per day on average toward completing the course. Seating is limited. As the first course in UToledo Online's Pathway to Master Online Instructor Program, OTC provides an excellent opportunity for faculty to engage with peers while participating in an online course from the student perspective. Instructors will learn about several strategies that can improve the online teaching and learning experience for both instructors and students while getting hands-on experience with various Blackboard Ultra Course View (UCV) tools.
Applying The Quality Matters Rubric - One Day Virtual Workshop
This fall, the Ohio Quality Matters Consortium is offering multiple sessions of QM’s flagship workshop, Applying the Quality Matters Rubric. This workshop is included as part of UToledo Online’s Pathway Program.
Description: In this workshop, participants will learn about the Quality Matters Higher Education Rubric, the course review process, the concept of alignment, and how to draft helpful recommendations for course improvement.
Format/Location: This one-day workshop is a real-time, synchronous virtual workshop offered through the Ohio QM Consortium. Participants will be provided with workshop access information via email prior to the workshop date. Participants must log in on time, participate throughout, and stay for the duration of the workshop to earn a Certificate of Completion.
Session Length: One day workshop (7.5 hours)
