• Molecular scale analysis of bioadhesion and biofilm formation
• Biofilm formation and its control in water systems
• Biological and chemical dynamics in water systems
• Disinfection by-product formation and control in water distribution systems
• Developing biofilm control and detection methods on medical devices
• Development and application of environmental sensors (microsensors / nanosensors) to monitor physical / chemical activities in microenvironment
• Developing sustainable water and wastewater treatment processes
• Microbial interactions with nanoparticles/ Fate and transport of engineered nanoparticles
• Sustainable biodegradation and bioremediation of recalcitrant and toxic contaminants
• Membrane processes for water & wastewater treatments (membrane biofouling control)
