Graduate Admissions
The Department invites applications from students with degrees in Chemical Engineering
(or a closely related field) and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 0-4
scale) or higher.
Students are admitted into the program primarily during the Fall Semester. The priority application deadline for Fall admission is January 15 of each year. Applications received after this deadline may not receive full consideration, but will still be considered if open positions remain available. Consideration of applications for admission and financial aid begins shortly after the January 15 deadline and students awarded admission will be notified starting by the end of February. Typically, we admit 8-12 students each year. Applicants must submit the following:
International StudentsInternational students that do not possess a degree from a US school are expected to submit GRE and TOEFL test scores. The minimum TOEFL score is 550 (80 for Internet-based tests).Students with TOEFL speaking scores of 22 and higher will be given priority in admission and financial aid. International students that do not receive financial aid are required to submit a Certificate of Financial Responsibility. Financial AidThe department offers several forms of financial aid to all students.Entering graduate students are usually awarded Graduate Teaching Assistantships. After the first year, students typically switch over to a Graduate Research Assistantship. The Department also nominates students for scholarships both internal and external to the University.Currently, nearly all graduate students in the program receive financial support.
