Civil and Environmental Inspiration in Engineering Award Nomination Form
The Civil and Environmental Inspiration in Engineering Award is bestowed annually to recognize outstanding achievement, leadership, and service in the field of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering for those serving as role models to enhance the visibility of the University of Toledo, the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department and the community at large.
The 2026 Civil and Environmental Inspiration in Engineering Award recipients will be announced in summer 2026 and honored in the fall 2026.
The deadline for submitting nominations for the 2026 award is March 31, 2026. Only complete submissions will be considered.
Selection Process Rules
Eligibility
The nominee…
Must have received at least one degree from the University of Toledo Civil and Environmental Engineering Department or from the Construction Engineering Technology program housed previously in the Engineering Technology Department and now in the CIVE Department.
Should generally not be currently enrolled as a student in the CIVE department or a member of the University of Toledo, faculty, staff, or Board of Trustees.
Must be currently living. (No posthumous nominations.)
Must be 10 years removed from receiving their degree from the University.
Must be of a minimum of 30 years of age.
Nomination process
Nominator(s) can be current and former faculty as well as Alumni or other industrial professionals not otherwise affiliated with the University of Toledo.
The nomination shall be submitted by completing the online form on the University of Toledo Civil and Environmental Engineering Department webpage. The narrative should describe the nominee's qualities, achievements, and work, and how these reflect the award criteria.
The nominee’s CV/Resume that provides supporting details which can be measured against the criteria shall be submitted via the link in the nomination form.
Nominees not selected for the award will have their original nomination held for 5 years for future consideration. Additional qualifications regarding the nominee may be submitted during this time should other achievements be attained that further the nominee’s credentials. After 5 years, a new nomination will need to be submitted for the individual in question.
Nomination Deadline by March 31st of each year for awardees in the following academic year.
Assessment and Selection
Nominations will be assessed by a committee appointed consisting of previously selected Distinguished and Outstanding CIVE Alumni by the CIVE Department for this purpose. The committee will make a recommendation to the Department Chair.
The committee’s final decision on each individual nominee shall be based upon the mutual agreement of the committee and not any specified majority-based standard.
Up to five (5) alumni can be selected for awards each year. There is no minimum number of selections that needs to be annually attained.
