Mr. Richard J. Toth
Industrial Engineering
Class of 1975
Mr. Rick Toth graduated from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Science degree
in industrial engineering in 1975.
It was a career path Rick seemed destined for when his father started a business doing
tool 7-die work in 1955. Growing up with his technical background and working in the
shop through high school motivated Rick to study engineering. Starting at the University
of Detroit, Rick was very impressed with the industrial engineering department at
the University of Toledo. He transferred to UT after one year.
The real world approach and common sense methods of Dr. Ted Glenn made a lasting impression
on Rick. There was also the manufacturing experience of Dr. Milton Netter that was
helpful to Rick. Rick's involvement with UT did not stop after graduation. Rick has
been a part time instructor and lecturer at both the College of Engineering and at
the Community and Technical College. He has also served on the College advisory boards
and on the Board of the National Center for Tooling and Precision Components.
After graduation, Rick was able to step right into the family business started by
his father 20 years earlier. Toth Industries is truly a family business, Rick and
his two brothers Bernie and Tom are owner and the top management of company. Rick's
wife Carol is the part time payroll manager, and in the early years even his grandfather,
an immigrant from Hungary, worked in the shop as a machinist. Rick and Carol have
two daughters.
Rick and his brothers have taken the company from its strong foundation to build a
very strong reputation providing precision-machined parts to major companies throughout
the United States and Mexico. Toth Industries has over 90 employees today. For more
