How to Join IFC

The Interfraternity Council does a semi-structured recruitment process at the start of both the fall and spring semester, though chapters can recruit at any point during the academic year. The council's main recruitment period occurs during the Fall Recruitment Week. We highly encourage an interested member to explore all the opportunities available to them.

The Office of Student Involvement and Leadership sets a minimum requirement for all new members to have 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and to be enrolled as a full-time student. An individual organization may set higher GPA requirements for potential new members. Organizations may also look for leadership experience and engagement in community service. For more information on individual chapters, please see chapter profiles or contact a member of the organization.

The fall semester is the primary recruitment period for IFC. Before the recruitment week, interested men should attend Meet the Greeks, Greek Life's Late Night Breakfast, and any council events. These are the first opportunities to get to know more about the community, individual chapters, and for the chapters to get to know you. The first day of recruitment is structured rounds that allow all interested individuals to engage with all the active chapters for a short period of time. Throughout the rest of the recruitment week, interested individuals can attend events put on by specific chapters. Membership offers, more commonly known as bids, can be extended as early as the Wednesday at 5 pm of the recruitment week. We encourage individuals pursuing membership in the Interfraternity Council to understand they can receive multiple bids during the week, but not all organization extend offers on Wednesday.

Recruitment in the spring semester is the same process as fall but on a small scale.
