Greek Life

Welcome to Interfraternity Council

Students and Family of the University of Toledo,

On behalf of the 10 representing chapters and an IFC community of over 400+ members, we welcome you to the Interfraternity Council!

Greek Life is one of the oldest and strongest traditions to prevail on college campuses, especially at the University of Toledo. Here, our Greek community shapes exceptional men and women throughout their collegiate years and creates strong ties back to their alma maters.

The Interfraternity Council ensures that all of the member Fraternities provide each member with a “home away from home” and establishes a bond that will last for life. The Fraternal community represents unconditional support and friendship for one other that allows growth in their personal and professional lives. With the foundation our members build, we strive attain high ideals in the areas of personal character, social relationships, professional ambitions, and academic pursuit. The Interfraternity Council pushes the community to be passionate about their goals and seize all opportunities necessary to achieve greatness.

As a personal testament to the strength of our community, my fraternity has played a pivotal role in the social, academic, and professional development over the past four years of my life. The growth of leadership skills, mentorship opportunities, confidence in myself and others, and most importantly – eternal friendships that Greek Life has provided will continue to have a long-lasting impact on who I am and who I strive to be following my collegiate career. All these facets of my identity I can attribute to the experience I received from my fraternity.

At the University of Toledo, the ability to feel empowered to this high of a level, is truly what it means to be a Fraternity man. The unparalleled opportunities for undergraduate leadership, community and philanthropic impact, academic professionalism, and further personal development is just a short glimpse of the experience one would receive.

The core values of the IFC community created in the early 1800’s which are still recognized today. We continue to commit ourselves these values and to keep each other and ourselves to the highest standards through the following goals of the academic year of 2023-2024:

  •  Understand the impact of fostering an accepting community within the IFC and continue to become more diverse as a result.
  • Provide resources and assistance to all member chapters to increase membership throughout each organization and community.
  • Work with a variety of Offices, Organizations, and other Greek Councils on campus, to become a leader among the student body and advocate for all undergraduate students.
  • Expand the pool of exceptional collegiate men going through recruitment despite the hardships faced by higher education nation-wide.
  • Establish scholarship incentives of the UToledo IFC Community.
  • Foster a culture of openness to raise awareness on topics of alcohol safety, sexual assault, and mental health issues through community safety and wellness programming.
  • Increase the presence of the Greek Community on campus through campus programming and social media.
  • Expand the opportunities for community service and philanthropic initiatives at the Council level.

I hope this established a basic foundation for what it truly means to become a member of Greek Life through the Interfraternity Council.
