Welcome to National Pan-Hellenic Council
Hello there! Welcome and thank you for your interest in The University of Toledo’s National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)!
Established on May 10, 1930, NPHC represents nine historically Black fraternities
and
sororities, also known as the Divine 9. The Divine 9 is made up of 5 fraternities
and 4
sororities: Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Kappa
Alpha
Psi Fraternity, Inc., Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,
Inc., Phi Beta
Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.,
and Iota
Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. Each of these amazing organizations share principles based
on
Scholarship, Service, Brotherhood/Sisterhood, and many other core values that are
cherished by these organizations. Currently, in 2023, the University of Toledo is
home to 7 of
these organizations. Those being: Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha
Sorority, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.,
Delta Sigma
Theta Sorority, Inc., and, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
This council was established to promote unity and empowerment between one another,
so
they could work towards the same cause. The initial purpose of NPHC is to foster
cooperative actions of its members in dealing with matters of mutual concern. We work
hard
as a council to implement this purpose on our campus every day.
During my term, I have been able to accomplish high amounts of Greek Unity within
our
campus at the University of Toledo and other surrounding campuses, great engagement
and
interaction between members of all Greek communities (IFC, MGC, Panhel) and non-greek
communities, raising of funds, and community service. Within the Fall semester, I
would love
to continue these trends while increasing them and making them better. I would also
love to
make a welcoming community using Greek life for incoming students while informing
them of
the benefits, history, and other key aspects of NPHC.
Being interested in Greek Life can seem a bit scary, especially if you are not familiar
with it.
Do not be afraid to come to NPHC and NPHC organization events, speak to members of
the
council, and interact with us on social media! We love to see new faces and interact
with the
campus! Popular events to look out for during the Fall include “Jam Session” and “Meet
the Greeks”. Date and times can be found on InvoNet. NPHC can help provide you with
resources for financial aid, coping with stress, accessing community service opportunities,
study tables/tutoring, etc. If you find yourself interested, don’t be afraid to do
research, ask questions, and be open-minded. We look forward to seeing you soon!
