How to Join NPHC

The National Pan-Hellenic Council chapters bring in new members through a process called membership intake. Membership intake is the process selection, education, and initiation of new members into the organization over a period of time set by the specific organization. Some organizations participate in intake each semester while others do so once a year.

The Office of Student Involvement and Leadership sets a minimum requirement for all new members to have 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and to be enrolled as a full-time student. An individual chapter may set higher GPA requirements for potential new members. Organizations may also be looking for leadership experience and engagement in community service. For more information on individual chapters, please see chapter profiles or contact a member of the organization.

To show interest in joining a specific organization, an interested person should attend Meet the Greeks (Fall semester), Meet NPHC (both semesters), council events, and the individual organization's events. It is essential to allow the members of the organization to get know who you are before their membership intake process and attending their events is a great way to build those relationships. Generally, when a chapter begins the membership intake process, they will hold an informational meeting. This meeting will be an opportunity to learn more about the organization and get specific questions answered about the intake process.  All these events will be advertised via Involvement Network and social media.
