Career & Internship Opportunities

The curriculum at the University of Toledo - Health Science Campus consists of advanced courses and research designed to prepare and qualify students for entry- and upper-level positions as Industrial Hygiene Specialists at:

  • Insurance agencies                                                                                                         
  • Manufacturing and service industries
  • Health care organizations
  • Labor unions
  • Academic institutions
  • Consulting firms
  • Public utilities
  • Governmental agencies

In addition, the curriculum will benefit those intending to eventually take applicable certification examinations, such as the American Board of Industrial Hygiene CIH and/or Board of Certified Safety Professionals CSP examinations. Based on a 2019 AIHA compensation survey, the average salary with less than five years in the profession and a MS degree in our field was $77,000.

M.S.O.H.-IH INTERNSHIP locations

M.S.O.H.-IH students without practical experience in industrial hygiene are required to complete an internship. Many students are offered positions by their internship employers. Internship sites have included:
