Katharine Talbott ’97 joined the faculty at the College of Law in 2025 and teaches Lawyering Skills I and II.  Professor Talbott earned her B.A. from the University of Michigan. 

Prior to joining UT, Professor Talbott worked for the Sixth District Court of Appeals.  In her role as staff attorney, her primary responsibility was to prepare judicial opinions for approval by the assigning judge. Her case load included a broad variety of matters, including criminal and civil cases and original actions.  She worked for three appellate judges during her time at the court.

Professor Talbott began her legal career working in private practice at Eastman and Smith, Ltd. where she represented employers in the areas of labor and employment law and workers’ compensation.  Professor Talbott appeared regularly in state and federal court, administrative agencies and before labor arbitrators.  Her litigation responsibilities included brief writing and preparation of discovery materials, as well as representing clients at depositions and in court.  She provided other consultation services that included the drafting of employment manuals and conducting internal investigations.
