Kurt Young

Kurt Young is an Ohio State Bar Association Board Certified Specialist in Ohio Workers’ Compensation Law, having been certified with the first group of specialists. He has been in private practice for 31 years, with his own firm since 2004. He has argued over 19,000 hearings before all levels of the Industrial Commission of Ohio, has litigated cases before numerous Courts of Common Pleas, several District Courts of Appeals, and has made a dozen Ohio Supreme Court appearances. He is the former chair of Toledo Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Committee, past chair of the Workers’ Compensation Executive Committee of the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers’ (now Ohio Association for Justice), member of the Ohio State Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Committee, and past member of the American Association for Justice Workplace Injury Committee.
Young currently serves on the Lucas County Board of Elections. He is a former Chair of the Lucas County Democratic Party and former Member of the Toledo City Council.
Young is a 1990 graduate of the University of Akron with a B.A in Political Science, with a certificate from the Ray C. Bliss Institute for Applied Politics, and a 1993 graduate of Case Western Reserve University’s School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio and the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and is a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States.
