Betty Montgomery

Betty Montgomery Betty Montgomery '76 was Ohio’s first woman attorney general and first woman auditor of state. Elected to the first of two terms as Wood County prosecutor in 1980, she was Ohio’s only woman prosecuting attorney until her 1988 election to the state Senate, where she chaired the Judiciary Committee and worked on passing Ohio’s first living will law. Six years later, she was elected Ohio attorney general and served two terms from 1995 to 2003. Due to term limits, she then successfully ran for and was elected auditor of state, serving through 2007.
