Judge Arlene Singer '76 leads the Toledo Women Lawyers History Project. Judge Singer retired from the
Ohio Sixth District Court of Appeals in February 2021. She was first elected to the
Ohio Sixth District Court of Appeals in 2002, after serving 12 years on the Toledo
Municipal Court bench. She received her BA in 1972 from The University of Toledo and
JD in 1976 from its College of Law, after which she practiced law before taking the
bench. She served as a state legislator in the 117th Ohio General Assembly.
Judge Singer is a member of the Toledo Bar Association serving on various committees and was a member of its Board of Trustees from 2000 to 2006. She is also a member of the Ohio State and Lucas County Bar Associations, both the Toledo and Ohio Women’s Bar Associations, the Toledo Bar Foundation, and the Ohio State Bar Foundation. She was president of the TBA Bar Foundation Board of Trustees from 2011 to 2013 and is president of The University of Toledo Law Alumni Affiliate Board of Governors. Judge Singer served nine years on the Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline of the Ohio Supreme Court, was its vice-chair for 2007 and chair for 2008, and was a member of the Ohio Supreme Court Task Force on the Code of Judicial Conduct.
Judge Singer has been a presenter for various CLE programs, been a guest lecturer at The University of Toledo College of Law and a speaker at the Law and Leadership Institute at The University of Toledo College of Law. She also has served as a mentor in the Ohio Supreme Court's Lawyer to Lawyer Mentoring program since its inception and at the University of Toledo College of Law and Toledo Women's Bar Association.

Toledo Women Lawyers History Project Fund (2402141)
The Toledo Women Lawyers History Project is a joint effort by The University of Toledo College of Law and the Toledo Women’s Bar Association (TWBA). Gifts support the discovery and preservation of the stories of women lawyers in the Toledo area.
Toledo Women's Bar Association Scholarship Fund (2402493)
Gifts support the endowment of a scholarship program by the Toledo Women's Bar Association (TWBA). The TWBA scholarship will be offered each year to an outstanding Toledo Law student and Women's Law Student Association (WLSA) member, who actively demonstrates a commitment to women’s issues.
Judge Geraldine Macelwane Memorial Law Scholarship for Women (1300865)
Established in 1998 in honor of Geraldine Macelwane as a scholarship for women Toledo Law students.
