Florence Hartman Wells

Florence Hartman Wells(1901-1963)
When Florence Hartman Wells became a member of the Ohio Bar in 1923, she was already serving as the first woman deputy clerk of the Toledo Municipal Court. She was the first woman in Ohio to be elected to both branches of the General Assembly. In 1924 she was elected to the Ohio House and in 1927 she was elected to the Ohio Senate. In 1928 Florence Hartman Wells became the first woman assistant Lucas County prosecutor.
