Holiday Greetings 2024

A collage of newspaper clippings from The Blade, dated Dec. 18, 1964. The headlines highlight the unanimous Ohio Senate vote (33-0) and Governor James Rhodes signing a bill to create a medical college in Toledo. The text includes phrases like “Senate Votes Medical College in Toledo” and “Rhodes Signs Bill Creating Medical School in Toledo,” with smaller text mentioning the unanimity of votes and naming of a board. A photo from the first class in 1969 is pictured on the right.

Reflecting on our Legacy, Celebrating our Present, Inspiring our Future

As the year comes to a close, we celebrate the holiday season and pause to reflect on the incredible milestones and achievements of 2024. This year has been particularly special as we celebrate 60 years since our founding in December 1964 — a remarkable milestone in our journey of service and excellence.

Together, we have built a foundation of excellence in medical education, research, and clinical care — a legacy that continues to thrive because of your dedication.

This year, we have much to be thankful for. From the achievements of our students and alumni to groundbreaking advancements in healthcare and research, our community has embodied the mission and spirit that began 60 years ago. Please take a moment to explore some of our Points of Pride from this past year and celebrate all that we have accomplished together.

A collage of five images showcasing moments of pride and achievement at the University of Toledo, including: a graduate in regalia receiving their doctoral hood during a commencement ceremony; two medical students enthusiastically holding "I matched!" signs, celebrating Match Day; a group of people wearing eclipse glasses outdoors, looking upward during the total solar eclipse event; UToledo molecular biologists Dr. Steven Haller and Dr. David Kennedy examine the health effects of airborne algal toxins at Lake Erie; and a group of students in lab coats at the Biomedical Lab Coat Ceremony.

As we honor this milestone, we invite you to learn more about how you can make an impact on the future of healthcare and medical education.

Thank you for your unwavering commitment to our College and to those we serve.

Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful holiday season and a new year filled with success, health, and happiness.
