Minor in Mathematics


Mathematics is a field unlike any other. It provides a foundation for organized and critical thinking that prepares you for any career.

Mathematics is an essential science and is becoming more and more useful in today's increasingly complex world. The majority of students in our program go on to graduate school or other professional degree programs. Those who enter the job market find positions in a wide variety of fields.

Degree Requirements

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers a minor in Mathematics. To obtain a minor in Mathematics, a minimum of 22 hours in mathematics must be completed.

The 22 hours must include MATH 1840 (or MATH 1860), MATH 1890 (or MATH 2890) and MATH 2850; and one of the following: MATH 3610, MATH 2860 or MATH 4680. The remaining hours must be courses which are acceptable toward a major in Mathematics and must be approved by an advisor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.

Note: MATH 1850 or MATH 1830 cannot be used for math minor credit hours.
