Photography Services
At the Office of University Marketing and Communications, we take pride in telling the amazing story of UToledo. Whether the story is about our talented students, our brilliant faculty or our passionate staff, one thing is clear: our people make campus and the world better. Our storytelling strives to give the sense of being right there, connected to those people who make our university special — and photographs are an essential way to communicate that.
PHOTOGRAPHY
By request, and at no cost to you, our office offers photographic services that support the mission, vision and values of the institution. We welcome opportunities to document events that illustrate and promote the UToledo brand, enabling us to tell UToledo’s story to a larger audience while attracting new students and patients. Some examples include:
- Unique class activities
- Impactful research
- Major campus events (student move-in, commencement, etc.)
- Student life
- Community outreach
- Official faculty and staff portraits
Due to the limited availability of our photographer and demand for his services, event coverage requests are limited to one-hour timeframes. Additionally, we are not able to provide photography services for events intended solely for a private or internal audience such as retirement parties, inter-office celebrations, departmental award presentations, and group portraits. Requests are accepted based on marketing value and availability may change depending on the priorities of the institution.
Any photography requests outside the business hours of 8:15 a.m.-5 p.m. are overtime with the photographer’s overtime rate paid by the department making the request and are accepted at the discretion and availability of the photographer. Should any request be denied, a freelance photographer may be hired at the requestor’s expense. A list of vetted freelance photographers is available upon request.

HEADSHOTS
Faculty and staff headshots are available free of charge in our studios located on Main Campus (University Hall 2340) or Health Science Campus (Mulford Library 048B). Photo headshot appointments are available in 15-minute increments on pre-scheduled dates. To schedule an in-studio headshot, use one of the links below.
Please be on time for your scheduled appointment. If you are going to be late or are unable to make your appointment, call 419.530.2286 as soon as possible to reschedule.
It is important to note the photo is not scheduled until you receive confirmation.
UTOLEDO PHOTO SYSTEM
The UToledo Photo System is a searchable collection of photographs available for faculty and staff for marketing purposes. Access to photos is by request and requires a valid UTAD account. These images are intended for official use and may not be sold, licensed for sale or published outside university purposes without permission from University Marketing and Communications.
PHOTO RELEASES
When using photographs of students in promotional materials and media, it is important to consider if a release/consent form from the photograph's subjects/models is required before the photograph is published or otherwise made publicly available.
- A release is required if individuals are in a non-public space such as classrooms or living spaces. Minors must have specific consent forms signed by a guardian, as outlined in the UToledo Minors on Campus Policy.
- A release is generally not required when people are photographed in a public space, such as sporting events, commencements and outdoor events.
- Regardless of the above guidelines, a release form is always required for subjects being photographed specifically for University marketing efforts.
