Applied Learning Program Director Search
The Applied Learning Program Director provides academic and administrative leadership for the University of Toledo's applied (experiential) learning initiatives. The Director advances institutional priorities related to student success, academic excellence, and career readiness by promoting high‑impact learning experiences that integrate theory and practice across disciplines.
Working collaboratively with the Program Manager for Applied Learning, academic colleges, faculty, and campus partners, the Director supports faculty efforts to embed high‑impact practices into undergraduate curricula and fosters interdisciplinary and cross‑college collaborations that expand meaningful learning opportunities for students.
The Director plays a key role in supporting and expanding applied learning curricular and cocurricular opportunities for all undergraduates, ensuring access to mentored experiences that align with students’ academic and professional goals. In collaboration with academic and administrative stakeholders, the Director aligns program goals with the goals of the colleges as well as national standards and emerging trends in undergraduate education.
The Director is responsible for assessing program outcomes, contributing to institutional reporting, and supporting accreditation and accountability efforts related to undergraduate learning and student engagement. The Director also serves as a representative of the University in regional and national applied learning networks, strengthening the institution’s visibility and partnerships in this area.
Through campus‑wide collaboration, the Applied Learning Program Director works collaboratively to identify opportunities for program growth, promotes continuous improvement, and advances a cohesive vision for applied learning that enhances the undergraduate experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates must be faculty members at The University of Toledo (tenured, tenure-track or lecturer) and have professional experience working with applied learning initiatives. In addition, candidates should possess the following:
- Demonstrated success mentoring applied/experiential learners
- Experience supporting faculty development related to high‑impact educational practices in applied learning
- Evidence of campus‑wide collaboration and academic leadership
This is a 12-month administrative position open to qualified university faculty and will include course release time and a stipend.

The Undergraduate Research Program Director provides academic and administrative leadership for the University of Toledo's undergraduate research initiatives. The Director advances institutional priorities related to student success, academic excellence, and career readiness by promoting high-impact, mentored research and creative inquiry experiences that engage undergraduates in disciplinary and interdisciplinary scholarship.
Working collaboratively with the academic colleges, faculty, and campus partners, the Director provides strategic direction for undergraduate research opportunities across the institution. The Director supports faculty efforts to embed undergraduate research and inquiry-based learning into curricula and fosters cross-college and interdisciplinary collaborations that expand meaningful, mentored research experiences for students.
The Director plays a key role in supporting and expanding undergraduate research curricular and co-curricular opportunities for all undergraduates, ensuring equitable access to mentored experiences that align with students’ academic interests, professional goals, and pathways to graduate or professional study. In collaboration with academic and administrative stakeholders, the Director aligns program goals with college priorities as well as national standards and emerging trends in undergraduate research and student engagement.
Through campus-wide collaboration, the Undergraduate Research Program Director identifies opportunities for program growth, promotes continuous improvement, and advances a cohesive vision for undergraduate research that enhances the undergraduate experience and strengthens the University’s academic mission.
