Ohio In-State Residency: Procedures
Procedures
Once you are classified as a non-resident for tuition purposes, you must petition to be reclassified as an Ohio resident by submitting an Ohio In-State Residency Application along with supporting documentation that demonstrates you have established residency in Ohio. The supporting documentation varies depending upon the residency rule under which you apply. Any institution of higher education charged with assessing residency reclassification may require the submission of affidavits and other documentary evidence which it may deem necessary to a full and complete determination under this rule. Refer to the guidelines for the various rules listed on the menu to the right (C1-C4 and E1-E8) for detailed descriptions and required documentation. If you are unsure which type of residency rule applies to your circumstances, please use the Residency Predictor as an aid. If you are not a U.S. citizen, review the information on Immigration Status.
It is your responsibility to understand the residency guidelines. Review the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page for answers to commonly asked questions. If you have further questions after reviewing the FAQ, please send your questions via email to residency@utoledo.edu.
Fees will not be deferred because of a pending application. Therefore, plan to pay all fees in full and on time to avoid late payment fees. If Ohio in-state residency is granted, you will receive an adjustment in fees assessed for the term in which reclassification becomes effective. If eligible, you will receive a refund. Please note, any reclassification may change your financial aid eligibility. If reclassification is denied, you may reapply for subsequent terms.
